I just went to buy a DVD recorder at Best Buy for the sole purpose of recording from my DVR to DVD’s so that I can share with my mom shows she does not get. The guy at best buy said that the new generation dvd recorders are all encoded and send a block signal and although you would have no problem recording onto the dvr, recording to dvd’s has become very difficult. Does anyone out there know about this or have a NEW dvd recorder that works just fine and is able to record from their DVR with no issues? I assume this is all an attempt to get consumers to buy the dvds of shows as opposed to recording them. I dont want to waste money on a recorder that wont record the shows off the tv or the dvr. thanks

Do i tell the parents or do i pretend like i never saw it? im 12 years old and i know what they are but luckily the kids who where 3 and 6 didn’t know how to read. Please help me it would mean a lot.

Like I recorded Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, The Amazing Race, and Ellen for my mom and it still is not in HD. Under the description of the show it says HDTV but it still did not record them in high definition. Some shows are not recorded in HD I know, but I thought that these ones were.

So my mom has a DVR from Time Warner and she wants to record to her Memorex VCR. I tried the whole switch the cables and place it on channel 3, but there is an option on the DVR saying copy to VCR… Can I apply that to the VCR or is the VCR just too old to even bother with?

On my dish network dual mode DVR, my mom records shows and some of them automatically decide to record to my TV (TV2). When I want to watch another show, I can't because that will stop the recording. The show easily could record to the other TV (TV1), but I can't figure out how to make it switch to TV1. I tried switching the "preferred TV" to TV1, but it doesn't change anything. I want to know how to switch recording back and forth between the two TVs that the system is hooked up to either during recoding or before recording. I've done it once before, but I tried it again later and found that I had forgetten how I had done it before.
