My parents have Dish network and I do not. I usually set the recorder on their dvr and watch the shows whenever I am there. However I found a DVR-625 DVR for under , the same as what they have. Is there a way to copy shows from their DVR hard drive to my dvr Hard drive and if so, what software? I do know that I would have to open them up, and connect them to a computer IDE. Or maybe I could use a USB drive, save the shows to it and then transfer to my dvr. The only issues that I have are, Is it pssible, what software to use, and what folders to copy? Thanks.

I’m trying to figure out what software I need to use to do this? I have a Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick and I want to be able to connect my Dishnetwork DVR 622 to Windows Media Center Vista? The software that came with this is junk and I’m not going to even bother. I’ve tried and WMC tells me that I need a WMC IR remote to use in conjunction to do this? Is threr anyway to do this without using this IR remote? I’m not really interested in buying a remote but trying to figure out how I can send a analog video signal from the TV2 output to the coaxial input on the TV tuner card so I can record saved programming on my DVR. Is there other software that will allow me to just capture analog video to record to my hard drive on my labtop? Any suggestion would be helpful!

Digital video recorders or DVR’s record videos that are in digital format to a medium. A disk drive is a sample of this medium. These digital video recorders come in the form of stand-alone set-top boxes that are connected to a monitor or television set for viewing. By connecting a digital video recorder to your video surveillance system, you can easily record the images captured by your security camera.

I want to be able to record HD material onto a Hard Drive with a stand alone Set Top Box, but all the models made only for Over The Air & Cable TV are discontinued and way too expensive on EBAY. I only have Over The Air with my rooftop antenna and do not have Cable or Satellite.
