how do i record onto a dvd from my dish network dvr?

i just got dish network and i got the 625 dvr. I also have an LG dvd recorder that can be hooked up to cable or satellite set top box. when dish network installed the system they hooked up my dvd recorder to the dvr. However, I can only watch a dvd with my recorder. I can’t figure out how to record with it. How do i set it up so that I can record onto a dvd from my dvr recordings? Also is there any way that i can record directly on a dvd from the satellite tv?
