Is there a Tivo or DVR where I can download shows to a computer or an ipod?

I'm trying to buy a Tivo or DVR to record shows and transfering to my computer or ipod. Which brand offers that. Or is it better to get a media card and let my computer be the DVR?

I'm not sure if there is any DVR that directly allows this. However, there are programs that will allow you to sync your TiVo to your computer. I personally use Toast Titanium, which has a Tivo Transfer built in. It will cost you some money, but it works like a charm.
PS
The video files are usually very large, medium quality runs at about 800MB per hour, so you may wish to buy a large external hard drive as well.
