Directv’s wireless digital services emanate from their fleet of satellites orbiting earth. Digital satellite signals are transmitted to the satellites from programming providers where they are digitized and projected back to residential and business antennas and on through the receivers where they are processed into either standard or high definition (HD) resolution format and then onto the television screen for subscriber viewing pleasure. Signals are delivered in 100 percent digital format for the crispest, crystal-clear imaging and either CD quality or Dolby Surround sound clarity. High definition imagery is comparable to theater-quality programming and gives one the feeling of ‘being there’ or of watching the action through an open window. In addition to free equipment and professional installation, Directv gifts each first-time subscriber a Free Digital Video Recorder, sometimes called a Tivo, that lets the busy family record favorites (up to 70 hours of programming) for viewing at more convenient times. One program may be watched while recording a different one on another channel. Remote features include Record, Pause, Fast Forward, Skip Forward, and Rewind. Live programs may be stopped and resumed for unexpected interruptions. Libraries of favorites may be digitally recorded and stored on the DVR hard drive - eliminating the need for purchases and storage of VCR tapes and costly trips to the local video store. The slim remote also contains a Parental Control feature that enables blocking of undesirable programming. The DVR gives you total control over what is viewed in the privacy of your home and lets you sit down and watch your favorites on your own schedule.
